ABOUT
JACKIE MARRIOTT |
Jackie was the youngest of eight growing up on a farm
in Wendell, N. C. Performing for Jackie, as it
does for others, began in church productions, High School
and then college. She also, when she was six, would entertain
guest of her oldest sister, Clara with some interesting
dance moves. Although a nursing major at North
Carolina Central University, she found her self as a
permanent fixture in the dramatic and dance departments.
She was dancer and performed with the NCCU’s dance
troupe and then later started acting in productions such
as THE CHILDREN’S HOUR and CHRISTMAS
CAROL in NCCU’s drama department and of course by
this time Jackie had emerged from her shy shell. Jackie
moved to Houston, Texas for a while and was an art consultant
who sold Salvador Dali prints and put acting on the back
burner, but only for a brief moment.
The next ten to fifteen years she was back in N.C. working as a Human Resources
Professional by day but by night studying scripts and rehearsing for community
and professional theater. Her passion for her craft was fueled with every theatrical
project and also actively working on independent films, local commercials and
acting in corporate training videos.
She was inspired to make a move New York to try her hand
in that arena. Her decision came after her audition won
her a spot in a professional theater workshop taught
by Tony Award winning actress Trezanna Beverly and Playmakers
Repertory Artistic Director David Hammond which inspired
her to want to do more professional work. New York was
a bold and very challenging move for a country girl and
still green actress but with persistence and passion
she stood in line with hundreds of other hungry actors
and eventually landed commercial work, independent film
work and a National tour playing the role of Septima
Clark in THE ROSA PARKS STORY. While in New York, she
also went on a very long run and was a 2002 finisher
in NYC Marathon.
A Thank you message from Jackie Marriott:
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website and
for allowing me to share my performance experiences with
you. My life’s journey continues to be an evolution
and so will my development as an actor and performer.
I thank god for the opportunity to have the ability to
do something that I enjoy and that inspires me. I
am so fortunate to have a close circle of loving and
supportive people in my life because it makes this journey
so much easier to follow. I have had the great
fortune of working with the most brilliant directors,
writers and actors in the triangle area and have performed
in over 25 productions. I will be forever “trying
to matter”through my work and my life.
Peace and Love.
